Boxer - Bear - Large - Baby - Male - Dog
11/2/14: Bears Potential Is Limitless Bear is now 10 months old and has fully recovered from his bout with the deadly parvo virus with no lasting ill effects. Unfortunately, for one reason or another, Bear has not been adopted. Like many plain brown dogs of mixed breed genre, they are sadly often overlooked. NBR was able to save his life but Bear needs you to change his life. Bear is desperately seeking someone to give him the chance to blossom into a faithful companion and family member. He needs people who will give him the kind of attention that he has never had, and will need some direction in the beginning weeks. Consistency and patience will be imperative. Bear is not fully housebroken and will need someone who is home for the better part of the day - a fenced yard would be a plus. As with most dogs, Bear will thrive once he is on a schedule and adjusts to life in a loving home. Just take a look at his brother Gordon who was adopted by a wonderful family to see Bears potential. 03/01/14: 5 Pups With Parvo - NBR Was Their Only Hope To Live We received a call from an emergency hospital asking us if we would take a 12 week old Boxer mix puppy that was critically ill. His name was Zeus and he was diagnosed with the deadly parvo virus. We were informed he was one out of a litter of five, however, the other four pups were home with their mom and not yet showing any symptoms. According to the vet, the hospital had contacted 12 other rescue organizations trying to find someone to help; we were the only rescue to respond. The hospital would not begin treatment until they received full payment. We were quoted $xxxx for Zeus treatment and although our funds were low we could not turn our backs and let him die. We paid the bill and gave the go-ahead to the doctor to begin treatment. Within 12 hours all the pups at home were becoming violently ill with bloody diarrhea and vomitingthe same symptoms as Zeus. We were told if we did not take the remaining pups they would most certainly all die. We were their only hope. We felt we had no choice and agreed to take the remaining four puppies: Buttercup, Bear, Petunia and Gordon. It was touch and go over many days for all five pups, but we are elated that they all survived. Zeus and Buttercup were the first to recover, and the first to go to a foster home. They are thriving and live with two other boxers that give them needed socialization skills and plenty of exercise. The remaining three pups (Bear, Petunia and Gordon) are finally completely recovered as well. They are still being boarded at the vet hospital. They are ready to be moved into a foster home or their adopted homes. All five of the dogs are sweet and affectionate. The staff at the vet hospital cannot say enough about them. They all get special attention and they love to run around the office (when its slow ;-). They are taken outside for a little walk every two hours. All three of them are doing great on housebreaking and have very nice leash manners. We are making arrangements for all five pups to be spayed/neutered. The doctor recommended scheduling their surgery in another week since they just received their final vaccines. The medical cost for the care of these five pups has reached well over $xxxx. Sadly, we will not be able to take in any other dogs with medical issues until we can replenish our bank account. The extra donations we received during the Holidays are barely keeping us afloat. We have had to turn down several dogs these past weeks that had critical needs because we do not have the resources to help them. Please remember that we cannot do what we do without your support, and we need you now more desperately than ever. 02/18/xxxx: Sweet 14-week old boxer mix puppy - more info and pictures to follow soon.
